11/19/2021 Mac Studio Fix Fluid Coverage
MAC Studio Fix Fluid Foundation, £26. MAC's Studio Fix Fluid Foundation has been a firm fixture in many of our makeup bags at some point or another. It's a bonafide classic and when used alone, provides full, matte coverage in no less than 64 shades. Pretty impressive. I started by applying MAC Studio Fix Fluid on the bottom half and MUFE Face & Body on the top. The Studio Fix Fluid definitely has more coverage (obviously – Face & Body is water-based) but it applies very smoothly with my flat top kabuki.
Well MAC is hardly a new name in the makeup world and MACs Studio Fix Fluid Foundation is already
a tried & true favorite for many ladies. But, gasp…… I’m just now trying it!!!
Is it worthy of it’s reputation??? Illustrator catalina mac. Let me quickly tell you the truth….
Packaging: mehhhh, I’m not impressed. The top is a soft velvety rubber, the container is a sturdy glass,
but there is NO pump included. MAC would have you buy a pump from them for $10….on top of the $29.00 you just spent for the foundation. (I’m ALL FOR spending money on quality products, but it just ANNOYS me that the price of the pump went from $6 (I believe) to $10 over time. MAC if you refuse to include a pump, despite the countless complaints, then at least don’t continue to jack up the price of your optional pump.) ![]()
Texture/Consistancy: This foundation is very thick & creamy, right out of the bottle. I love this about it!!
It doesn’t really run or drip off your palette or hand like other liquid foundations tend to do. I applied this foundation with a damp stippling brush. You will need to work it in fast as it sets fairly quickly. It has a slightly sticky/tacky feeling which only lasts a few minutes, until the foundation sets. After it sets the finish feels soft and velvety, no stickiness.
Smell: The smell reminded me of actual house paint… It smells very similar to interior paint, but not so
strong, not necessarily unpleasant either. I have only been able to smell it on my face, a few times, once applied.
Coverage: Studio Fix Fluid Foundation starts off with a medium coverage which I easily built up into a full coverage. I have alot
of rosiness in my skin, which it did cover but I felt I had to use quite a bit of product to get it to full coverage. I would have liked it to be full coverage with less product. *I did apply MACS Prep & Prime before the foundation…. BUT nonetheless I am still experiencing the “pore problem”. Visable pores is my main issue I want a foundation to correct!!! This foundation started off concealing pores pretty well, but around the six hour mark, I noticed my pores were not concealed at all. Also the foundation had settled into the creases around nose. I’m not happy with this!
How Matte & how long?? Studio Fix has a “soft matte” finish to it. A tiny bit of luminosity remains on the skin, but it’s still quite matte.
I would say it’s a fairly natural looking matte. Despite any trends, I am now really favoring matte over dewey. I did the dewy thing for so long, I’m just personally over it. I like how matte tends to to be more flattering on imperfections such as pores. Also, I find the warmer & more humid the climate the more dewwy & oily my skin will be, so matte balances out what a hot, wet climate will do to my face. It has been an AWESOME unseasonably cool day here, so I couldn’t test the foundation in a tropical-like climate yet. But it has remained matte for 9 hours now.
Conclusion: I give MAC Studio Fix Fluid foundation 3.9 out of 5 stars. Overall it is a very good full coverage matte foundation. The lack of
diminishing pores, and it’s slight creasing around nose & mouth can be a real problem especially in harsh flourescent lighting. It’s lasting power is excellent though!!!

THE PRODUCTThe HYPE
MAC's Studio Fix Fluid Foundation has been a firm fixture in many of our makeup bags at some point or another. It's a bonafide classic and when used alone, provides full, matte coverage in no less than 64 shades. Pretty impressive. But now, the makeup marvels at MAC have determined four different formulas, combining Studio Fix with different product, to deliver entirely different finishes. This is revolutionary for someone like me, who still wants full coverage but also pines for a dewy, 'lit-from-within' finish.

BEAUTY BIOMac Studio Fix Fluid Coverage Serum
I have oily, blemish-full yet sensitive skin, which means I beeline for full coverage foundations and once I've found one that doesn't exacerbate my breakouts, I stick to it. The only problem is that I've always wanted to rock a dewy, no-makeup look, which is seldom achievable with a full coverage formula, so I was excited at the prospect of achieving that without compromising on or switching up my foundation.
